Rad Remedy contains calendula oil as well as CO2 calendula extract. Other radiation relief creams do not contain CO2 calendula extract. Our CO2 extract results in a higher concentration of calendula’s beneficial compounds, giving our cream its tremendous skin-calming properties. The CO2 extract is what gives our cream its yellow color.

Please note, the yellow color will not stain clothing.

Rad Remedy FAQs

Best results are achieved when Right Remedy is applied starting 1-2 weeks before your radiation treatments commence and continuing for 3-4 weeks after your last treatment. If you wait to start it until your skin is in significant distress, it will help, but you will not obtain the full benefit.

Rad Remedy should be applied at least twice a day, but you may apply it as often as desired to calm and moisturize your skin.

Patients usually go through 1-2 tubes.

Patients receiving radiation treatments are usually advised to not apply cream to their skin within one hour of their radiation treatments. Why is this? There is some evidence that thick globs of cream on the skin at the time of your treatment can increase the dose of radiation delivered to the skin in that location, worsening skin reactions. Studies show, however, this is a concern only if the cream thickness is >3 mm. That being said, we still advise against applying creams within one hour of treatments.

If you develop moist open wounds from your radiation treatments, it is best to stop using Rad Remedy and consult your health care provider. Sometimes they will need to prescribe topical and/or oral antibiotics (if there is evidence of a secondary infection), or bandages to help with wound healing. Please note, your radiation oncology team (technicians, nurses, radiation oncologist) are trained to monitor your skin throughout your treatment. However, reactions often peak 1–2 weeks after treatments conclude, so seek advice if your skin condition worsens post treatment.
